How to use Classic Gel Base Coat & Top Coat

Base and top coats protect the natural nail and seal gel colour for long-lasting shine.

What you need

Base coat
Top coat
UV/LED lamp
Buffer
Prep solution

Step by step

Prep the nail
Push back the cuticle, buff the shine off and cleanse the nail plate.
Apply base coat
Apply a thin layer, covering the free edge. Cure under a UV or LED lamp for the time your lamp recommends.
Apply colour
Apply your gel colour in thin coats, curing each one.
Apply top coat
Apply top coat and cap the free edge. Cure under a UV or LED lamp for the time your lamp recommends.
Finish
Remove any sticky layer if required and apply cuticle oil.

Pro tips

Capping the free edge with base and top coat reduces chipping.

Avoid

Avoid thick layers of base coat, which can lift.

Removal & aftercare

File away the shine of the top layer, then wrap each nail in a cotton pad soaked in acetone or gel remover for 10–15 minutes. Gently push the softened product off with a cuticle pusher, never peel or pry. Finish with cuticle oil.
